*Daphne Guinness*

~Daphne Guinness~
There are many reasons Daphne Guinness has been chosen to be the first fashion icon  to be featured on the VK Diary.  Effortlessly in control over her look & style yet still undoubtedly remains aware of her own esthetic.
VK loves the fact that she’s bold, fearless, & insanely privileged yet human all the same.  From that porcelain hued shell, hair a la Cruella De Vil & shyness that translates to bravery, you are instantly drawn in. Styled by her own brilliance & sheer love of fashion from an artist point of view, Guinness is a natural in this realm.
Daphne Diana Joan Susanna Guinness (born November 9, 1967) is an heir by direct descent of Arthur Guinness, the 18th-century inventor of the beer that still bears his name.
Married & divorced, mother of three this fashion maven is a collector of fine art & haute couture. Notable staple in the fashion & socialite world; Guinness showed her own private collections of garments on exhibition globally. She was a best friend of the late Alexander McQueen.
Daphne lives & breathes art. She understands the process of a creative mind. She herself cultivated a perfume with fashion goliath Comme des Garcons. Guinness has become the muse of many from photographers, bloggers, designers, & dreamers alike.  She spends time behind the camera as well always creating & redefining.
Daphne donates a signification portion of her assets to help artists, theatres, or libraries in difficulties in London. She works with a British charity that focuses on domestic violence & woman’s issues globally. Guinness also is a feature in friend Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for relief benefit for disaster victims.
In June 2012, through the auction house Christie's, she auctioned off a hundred pieces of her clothing to raise money for the Isabella Blow Foundation, which Guinness founded to commemorate her late friend & bring attention to mental health issues.
“Fashion is often dismal, individual style that’s what makes us human.”
“We need better things, not more. We should not pollute the world with meaningless, unused things. When we can make & support things of rare & precious beauty.”
"If I think about it too much, I can't get dressed."

"I treat clothing or a piece of jewelry like it was a piece of art," she says, "even though people who collect clothes get a bad rap because they're told it's all vanity."
